The tech giant seems to be changing its stance to be more crypto currency friendly in the current environment. Microsoft has polled Xbox game console users about the possibility of adopting payment methods like bitcoin.
Thesurvey is the first of its kind published by a tech giant with questions about cryptocurrencies
According to a post on Reddit, a user reported that Microsoft has started showing surveys with the topic of payment options, asking people how they pay for their Xbox stuff, among other things.
An article asks Xbox users what they think of the payment options currently available. Nevertheless, the survey asked the following question:
Which of these payment methods would you like to use on the Xbox (select all methods that apply)?
One answer is payment with Bitcoin (BTC), one of the alternatives Microsoft offers users. The survey ends by asking if you have ever decided not to buy something on Xbox because your preferred payment method was not available.
Microsoft continues to flirt with deals in cryptocurrencies
Interestingly, such a survey comes as a surprise to the Xbox gaming community, but even more so to cryptocurrency users. In an interview with CNN in February 2021, Brad Smith, president of Microsoft, said that the tech giant does not discuss bitcoin-related topics during its meetings.
But he told presenter Julia Chatterley that if we change our investment policy on bitcoin, Julia, you will be the first, well, the second to know. Chatterly then learned that she had asked him about bitcoin because of Tesla’s recent move to invest $1.5 billion in BTC.
However, Microsoft has not completely forgotten about the latest technological developments in the cryptocurrency sector.
Last year, the tech giant patented a cryptocurrency mining system that uses human activity, including brainwaves and body heat, when performing online tasks such as using search engines, chatbots and reading ads.
